Local vs Focusing on being an expert

Curious...how often are agencies focusing on "local" (and work with any industry business) vs. focus on being an expert / being able to attract a certain buyer/demographics?

I think a better way to phrase it would be general versus expert. After all we're ALL trusted local experts, right ‼️?‼️

Specializing on 1 or 2 local niches usually works best. People think it’s better being a generalist so they can target everyone. But saying something like “we are plumbers and hvac marketing experts” is very powerful, they’re a smaller audience than all local businesses, but when they see your copy they’ll see you as “exactly what they need”.

Plus always working the same niche also helps to really become an expert, you’ll be dealing with similar challenges and solutions for all your clients.
